TRANSIT-alerts

Our system serves as the centralized automated hub for the creation, management, and dissemination of service alert information to the public and transit partners.

Transit works best when riders are informed, and agencies work hard to provide up-to-date information about service disruptions. Our web-based TRANSIT-alerts system allows agency staff to enter, manage, and publish service alerts to their customers from a single synchronized hub, so your entire ridership can stay up to date regardless of how they get their information.

The system automatically generates appropriate text for all dissemination channels based on user selections so messaging stays consistent.

Alert creation & management

A simple and intuitive dropdown interface offers fine-grained control over the time, place, and type of alert published, and the system auto-generates alert text for each output channel. Quickly schedule future alerts and organize them internally using tags, sorting and permission levels.

Rapid setup & alert automation

The system uses an agency’s GTFS schedule data as its core input, making it simple to load routes, trips, and stops into the system for selection. The system can integrate with a feed of incidents and elevator/escalator status information and automatically generate alerts for delays, outages, and service restoration.

Alert dissemination

Outputs include a full-featured GTFS-realtime service alerts feed, APIs for website integration, and tweets. Easily share alert data with third parties or send alerts via email/SMS through GovDelivery to customers who have subscribed.

Originally developed in partnership with Boston’s Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA), TRANSIT-alerts is used every day by transit agencies across North America. Clients include:

  • MBTA
  • Metro (Los Angeles, CA)
  • TransLink (Vancouver, BC)
  • RTD (Denver, CO)
  • Metro Transit (Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN)
  • King County Metro (Seattle, WA)

Our mobility ecosystem
